Plagiarism means to steal and give someone’s idea and word without crediting the source. On the other hand, emblem as the brand name is different, if it’s not an exact copy of someone’s logo it cannot be plagiarized. It creates a major problem in graphic designing and emblem designing and people do have concerns over the originality of an emblem design.

Most signs built logos also have a company’s name which is different in most cases. If an emblem as the company’s name is not the same, if the symbol is not a copy of an existing logo then it cannot be called plagiarized.


If you search online you will see a lot of websites and many freelance designers. What they do is search and bring up a bunch of similar designs made by other people and they sell them online. It is not an easy job to differentiate between an “original design” and a “duplicate design”.

The fact is that there is no exact way to check whether an emblem design is original or duplicate. Text logos can be exposed to stealing other than shape or sign based designed custom logo. Suppose if you’re viewing at two logos and cannot differentiate between them you call it plagiarized but another viewer did notice a little difference in it, then it would not be called plagiarized. 

Unless signs or figures are similar, a picture based logo will not be referred to as plagiarized. Even if it resembles another emblem, a slight change in shape can qualify as an original and gives the holder security of copyright.

Almost every company has a sign that represents them because the buy logo works as a graphic display that your brand aims, work and personality. It’s the tool through which customers come to recognize your brand. Technology now allows brands to use their logos in a wide variety to gather data on exactly how much effect did the logo brings on to the brand.

Plagiarism in emblem design is a problem that needs to be handled. As it can affect somebody’s brand name. Graphic designers should always try to come up with unique and new designs.

Coinciding in time, customers should also be cautious from their side and use basic techniques such as “Google image search” to look out whether it’s a plagiarized design. Designers should ask their customers for sufficient time to come up with creative ideas.

It isn’t a new problem for designers, but the web seems to bring extra opportunities for pointing at likely duplicate designs. There's more pressure than before for designers and brands to play honestly. Nowadays news and complaints spread like ablaze, it's also more distressing and possibly damages your reputation if you are caught out.
